That's exactly why. In this crazy world we live in, so full of stress, mediation is one of the tools that can help to save your sanity. Think about it. Don't you get more done when you feel calm? Isn't it better for you when you can handle a crisis with a clear mind and level emotions? Are you just plain able to get more done when you aren't running around like a chicken with your head cut off?
As lightworkers---as *people* we have been taught to believe that we should give.That we are supposed to give and that it's greedy if we take for ourselves. We even feel guilty if we take time for ourselves. Sometimes we give till it hurts, and we don't stop giving even then, resulting in sickness or other things. So it seems counterproductive NOT to take care of ourselves when the very act of taking care of ourselves (mentally, emotionally, physically, even spiritually) means that we can be there more readily for the people that we love. They end up getting MORE because we are now in a better place to help them.
